Vice President Kamala Harris did an interview with NBC’s Craig Melvin to try to stop her poll numbers from hitting rock bottom. It backfired when Melvin asked her about mounting rumors President Joe Biden could replace her on the ticket with someone more moderate or competent.

Harris seemed caught off-guard by the tough questions Melvin was asking or she proved the rumors correct that she doesn’t prepare because she did not do a good job in the interview. Harrs has had a series of disastrous media interviews and this NBC one is no different.

“Are we going to see the same Democratic ticket in 2024?” Melvin asked. Harris said after shooting daggers at Melvin and pausing for a while:

“I’m sorry. We are thinking about today. I mean, honestly, I know why you’re asking the question because this is the part of the punditry and the gossip around places like Washington, D.C.

“Let me just tell you something — we’re focused on the things in front of us.

“We’re focused on what we need to do to address issues like affordable childcare.”

“So, there have been no conversations about 2024?” Melvin said not buying the spin.

Harris responded:

“The American people sent us here to do a job, and right now, there’s a lot of work to be done. And that’s my focus.”

Melvin said: “You’re at least familiar with some of the punditry. I don’t know that you’ve heard there’s been some talk about a Biden-Cheney ticket, perhaps in 2024. Did you read that article?”

“No, I did not,” Harris said but her physical reaction betrayed her words.

“And I really could care less about the high-class gossip on these issues,” she said.

She was also criticized for flubbing another softball question, this one about COVID. From Fox News:

“Does the administration say, ‘You know what, this strategy isn’t working. We’re going to change strategies,’” Melvin said. “Is it time?”

Harris responded that “it’s time for us to do what we have been doing and that time is every day” before quickly pivoting to vaccines.

“Every day it is time for us to agree that there are things and tools that are available to us to slow this thing down. And so right now we know we still have a number of people that, that is in the millions of Americans who have not been vaccinated, and could be vaccinated, and we are urging them to get vaccinated because it will save their life,” Harris said.

Politico’s Alex Thompson responded, “Not quite sure what that answer means.”

“Kamala Harris desperately needs better advisors, because yikes,” attorney T. Greg Doucette added.
